Information about the bespoke process for personal, original, beautiful, illustrated stationery


Bespoke designs are a truly unique way spread the word about your big day. 



Working together, we can create fully custom, hand-painted invitation suites and day-of pieces that beautifully reflect you and your celebration.

Getting to know you and what inspires you is my favorite part of the Bespoke process! You can see the three steps of the Bespoke process explained below.

How the Bespoke Process Works:


Step One: Conversation & Brainstorming 

Let's talk! After filling out the Questionnaire, I will respond to you within 3 business days to start a conversation. Inspiration can come from anywhere, so show me your Pinterest board, your color palette, the location of your celebration, designs you like, favorite movies, and anything the will help me to personalize your design.

Once I have a good idea of what it is you're looking for and how many pieces you require, I'll put together an estimate for your project including the design fee & the printing estimate.  After you've approved the estimate, we'll make it official with a signed contract. To proceed with your project, a 50% nonrefundable deposit is due at the time of signing. 



Step Two: Work & Revisions

The fun begins! Creating is the most challenging & most exciting part of the process. I'll put pencil to pad with all of the inspiration from our brainstorming conversations in mind to hand paint your unique items. I'll email to you the initial design and with two complimentary rounds of revisions, you can adjust wording, design elements, layout, &c.   This part of the process can take 6-8 weeks including revisions. 



Step Three: Printing & Delivery

It's all happening! Once you've proofread--triple checking that every detail is correct and that there are no typos--and given final approval, the remaining balance of your stationery package will be due to send to print. The printer brings your project to life within 2-4 weeks of final payment. Then, your custom suite will be hand-checked and shipped to you from either Dublin or New York. 



When to order Bespoke stationery:


I've put together a suggested timeline for when to order (and send) your custom-made wedding stationery from Moveable Mess. Another thing to note: it is generally recommended to send your envelopes to a calligrapher to be addressed (if you are hiring a calligrapher, that is) 3-4 months before your big day!

East Egg Wedding Stationery

Working closely with my clients, Caroline & John, we created this totally unique, vibrantly illustrated, storybook fold, flat print invitation. Their venue, a "Gold Coast" mansion on Long Island, inspired elements such as the beachy backgrounds and the rose garden fountain. This invitation features a detachable RSVP postcard with MadLibs-style response prompts. The fully custom hand painted artwork includes portraits of the bride & groom, floral elements, illustrations of the venue and the church, the map, and hand lettering.
