EuroTrip 2016: Visiting Milan, Modena, and Maranello (including a couple of Ferrari Museums!)

We're having an amazing time!

I'm in bed in Florence right now listening to the sounds of people below who party harder than me in languages I do not speak. I'm still struggling with jet lag a bit, and since I can't sleep, I thought I'd give an update on this moving mess.

Below: our visit to Milan, Ferrari, and a really old church!

A Tourist's Guide to San Francisco

Our trip to California was kind of like two separate vacations. One being the drive up the Pacific Coast Hwy with pit stops in LA, Santa Barbara, Solvang, Hearst Castle, Cayucos, Big Sur, Bixby Bridge, Monterey, Laguna Seca, and Santa Cruz. The other being a few days in San Francisco doing touristy things and visiting my family.

Driving Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca: My First Track Day!

More from our California trip!

On Day 4, I had my very first track day at one of the nation's most prestigious tracks: Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca! Normally, autocross is done at slow speeds, but this was my first time getting to speeds in excess of 80 mph. And, I've never dealt with other people on the track before - check out the video.

Visiting Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA

Day 3 of our trip, the very first thing on the itinerary was Hearst Castle. We woke up in our lovely Cayucos, CA bed & breakfast, were treated to veggie frittatas and chicken sausage, and headed up CA-1 for about an hour and a half to the castle. One of my all-time favorite things is home tours of homesteads and estates and I think Hearst Castle is now my number one favorite home tour.

Our Best Book Club Book Picks

In 2010, three of my college girlfriends and I decided to start our own Book Club. Unofficially called "Gabby and the Caitlins" (three of us are Caitlin, one is, well, Gab), six years later, we are still at it! Over the years, we've had members Skype in, we've ended up in a Bronx playground at 4 AM the night before one of us was going wedding dress shopping, and most recently, we all headed down to DC for the weekend where one of our members lives. In 2010, three of my college girlfriends and I decided to start our own Book Club. Timeline for Travel: Planning a European Tour Before Moving to Ireland

Last week, I shared the itinerary of our drive up the California coast. Today - to hopefully answer some questions - I wanted to share our general timeline for the move. We're not 100% sure when we'll end up in Ireland. But our plan includes some European traveling before we land at our ultimate destination.

Planning a Trip: Driving up CA Route 1 Classic/The Scenic Pacific Coast Highway

Planning trips is a lot of work!

Before we travel Europe for a bit & then head to Ireland, Joe and I want to visit his family in their new Floridian house and see where my family is living in San Francisco. Since he's into cars, and I'm into looking at pretty things, when we visit CA, we're planning a drive up Highway 1 Classic from Los Angeles to San Francisco.

Here's our itinerary (subject to change!):

A Wine Tour of the Long Island Vineyards

I had a super fun weekend.

As part of a tradition started by my mom and our Point Lookout cousins, 16 crazy ladies and I headed out East to pretend it's still summer. This tradition started as an all-girl fishing trip on the Super Hawk out of Point Lookout in, maybe, 2007 or so that we dubbed Fishin' Chix. But after a few too many ladies turning green, we decided to trade in our sea legs for stemware.

Better Late Than Never: My 2015 Autocross Season Recap

Twenty Fourteen was my first year with Autocross. I learned to drive stick and I participated in a bunch of local events. I attended a couple national events, but just as a spectator. Twenty Fifteen has been a whole other animal compared to my first season.

This year, while focusing on the Northern New Jersey Region for local events, I travelled to and participated in a number of national events. Venues visited (both national & local events) include:
